Most medium voltage cables are exposed to low current loads and can achieve a significant lifespan without causing major problems. Things are quite different when cables are subjected to high current loads and when accessories regularly fail, or when the cable itself is called into question in terms of its residual life. The influences of current load-carrying capacity and moisture are of significant importance for cables. This course is designed to demonstrate that with the proper knowledge and with the proper use of tools, it is possible to manage the acquisition of insight into the residual life of cables. This insight in turn becomes input for the replacement or maintenance policy. Both future failure behavior and future investments are linked to this.

Anyone involved (or to be involved) with power cables in the course of their daily work. It is recommended that the participants hold at least a Bachelor of Engineering degree or have a certain foreknowledge of power cables. The Power cables in general course is a recommended preparation, but not a requirement.
